Help is on the way.
Medical Bridges works with qualified area hospitals, civic groups, churches, and the international community to distribute medical supplies and equipment. The 2008 goal is to ship 48 forty-foot ocean freight containers to qualified providers of charitable medical care worldwide.
Each 40-foot container shipped carries up to $400,000 worth of valuable medical material and transportation costs average between $2,500 to $7,000.
2008 Container Shipments to date:
As of January 25th there were ten hand-carried shipments to nine countries and three container shipments to Angola, Nigeria and Pakistan. Four shipments are pending to Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mexico and India.
A people-helping-people philosophy is very much apparent in the volume of requests for hand- carried supplies received by Medical Bridges every day.
The Medical Bridges staff and volunteers are totally committed to facilitating the efforts of those in our community who are making a difference in people’s lives.
