1. What leads to surplus medical supplies and equipment in the United States?
American surplus is created in a variety of ways. Cancelled procedures lead to the discarding of supplies, promoted new items leave supplies sitting on shelves, prescribed home supplies are rarely used to completion, and newer technology renders equipment obsolete

2.Who donates all the supplies in Medical Bridges distribution center?
Medical Bridges receives medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, clinics, individuals, medical supply companies, and many other sources throughout the Houston area and beyond. -Return to Top-

3. What types of supplies and equipment does Medical Bridges accept?
Medical Bridges accepts surplus medical supplies that are not contaminated and are safe for re-use. The supplies can be sterile or non-sterile. Supplies with an expiration date need to be in date on arrival at Medical Bridges.  Donated equipment must be in working condition with appropriate manuals and accessories. Equipment donors are asked to provide a statement of good working condition for donated equipment. We cannot accept controlled substances or refrigerated medication because we are not permitted to send these out of the country. If you have questions about a possible donation you are considering please contact our Collaborative Partnership Manager Robert Lampkin to discuss an immediate donation.

4.Does Medical Bridges pickup medical supply donations?
Medical Bridges has a truck which makes pick ups in the greater Houston area on a daily basis. To request a pickup, please call or email Robert Lampkin, our Collaborative Partnership Manager, and he will schedule a time that works for both parties.

5.Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes, since Medical Bridges is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations, monetary or medical supplies, are tax deductible to the extent of the law. Medical Bridges can will supply provide you with a tax receipt for your medical supply donation in which you can list the value of your donation. Monetary donations are tax-deductible as well.

6.How is Medical Bridges funded?
Medical Bridges is funded by the generosity of individual donors, churches, foundations, private grants, and corporations.

7. Where do Medical Bridges' shipments go?
Medical Bridges has sent medical supplies and equipment to qualified hospitals and clinics serving indigent population in 81 different countries on five continents during its eleven year history.

8. Who receives medical supplies and equipment from Medical Bridges?
Sponsoring organizations such as churches, civic groups, local corporations doing business abroad and international organizations all have to apply to send medical supplies to clinics and/or hospitals in developing countries. The application process ensures that we are sending supplies to a qualified nonprofit hospital or clinic that serves the indigent population in a developing country.

9. How does Medical Bridges select what goes on a shipment?
Based on the information contained in the application, Medical Bridges offers their updated inventory to help the sponsor to define its request of supplies. The quantity will be decided by Medical Bridges upon availability.

Medical Bridges is located in Houston, Texas, near the intersection of 610-South and Almeda Road at 2706 Magnet Street.

11. What volunteer opportunities are available at Medical Bridges?
Groups from ages 12 to 110, we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers from all walks of life to help sort, pack, and/or donate quality medical supplies and equipment of all ages as well as nurses and physicians to help identify supplies.
